FROM THE IMPERIAL CHRONICLE

Vigrahpal II

The ruler immediately preceding the great restoration associated with Mahipal I.

Vigrahpal II stands at a turning point in the narrative of the Pal dynasty. Local rivals challenged the once wider imperial presence, and later writers emphasise the recovery accomplished by his successor.

His relationship to Mahipal I is much firmer in dynastic accounts than any richly detailed narrative of his own military activity.

The reign is best understood as the context from which the next great reassertion of Pal influence emerged.
