FROM THE IMPERIAL CHRONICLE

Madanpal

A sovereign of the final established phase, remembered through grants and the contraction of royal power.

Madanpal is usually treated as the last substantial monarch of the historically secure Pal line. His inscriptions attest to the continuation of royal titles and grants even as Sena power advanced.

The movement of regional political authority cannot be reduced to a single date. In some localities, older titles and loyalties coexisted with new rulers.

His reign closes the long story of a house that had repeatedly recovered from reverses, but could no longer sustain its former political position.
