Nagabhata II
One of the leading western Indian competitors in the struggle for Kannauj.
His contests with the Pal and Rashtrakuta powers illuminate the competitive political world of early medieval northern India, where dynastic claims were advanced through campaign and allegiance.
The available sources provide only fragments of a life that intersected with the four-century history of the Pal dynasty. To understand this figure, it is necessary to read surviving charters, later literary accounts and scholarly interpretations together.
The person is included in the archive because imperial history is made not by kings alone, but also by queens, counsellors, opponents, artists, scholars and the creators of political memory.
