Bhagyadevi
A queen remembered in the lineage of Rajyapal and the tenth-century royal house.
Genealogical inscriptions identify Bhagyadevi in connection with the family of Gopal of the tenth century. Queens mattered to claims of succession and alliances even when surviving records say little of their personal lives.
The available sources provide only fragments of a life that intersected with the four-century history of the Pal dynasty. To understand this figure, it is necessary to read surviving charters, later literary accounts and scholarly interpretations together.
The person is included in the archive because imperial history is made not by kings alone, but also by queens, counsellors, opponents, artists, scholars and the creators of political memory.
